The Found Media Archive is a self-hosted video platform documenting the physical experience of finding and playing forgotten media — the tapes, the machines, the encounter itself.

Because there's something irreplaceable about watching a tape spin, hearing a reel click into place, seeing the texture of aging plastic. These objects hold memory in their physicality, and that encounter — the ritual of playing them — is part of what they are. Digitizing alone erases half the story.

Every found recording is evidence that another human thought this was important enough to preserve. That intention — the decision to press record — deserves reverence.
